POCUS Fundamentals Education Pack
POCUS Fundamentals Education Pack
The Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Fundamentals Certificate is designed to introduce and enhance your understanding of the core principles and equipment used in ultrasound within clinical settings. This program is ideal for healthcare professionals aiming to integrate POCUS technology into their daily practice.
Program Highlights:
Educational Objectives: The certificate program offers comprehensive learning modules that cover essential topics such as:
- Principles of Ultrasound Physics
- Echogenicity and Attenuation
- Machine Modes
- Instrumentation
- Transducers
- Image Orientation
- Ultrasound Artifacts
- Safety and Bioeffects
These modules are designed to provide a solid foundation in ultrasound physics and instrumentation.
Assessment: Upon completing the learning modules, participants will undertake a summative assessment consisting of 35 multiple-choice questions, some of which include images or graphics. The assessment is distributed across the following content areas:
- Instrumentation – 37%
- Basic Principles of Ultrasound – 27%
- Ultrasound Artifacts – 22%
- Safety and Bioeffects – 14%
Participants have 30 days from the date of purchase to complete the certificate and will have unlimited access to the learning modules until the summative assessment is started. Please note that the summative assessment can only be attempted once.
Prerequisites: It is recommended that participants have prior healthcare training and some exposure to ultrasound physics and instrumentation.
Advancement Opportunities: Earning the POCUS Fundamentals Certificate serves as a prerequisite for more advanced certifications. However, this requirement may be waived for clinicians who have passed the Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) examination within the last five years or for ARDMS® and APCA™ certificate holders.
